"Talkyspeak," a discussion of songwriting technique, 2005.
The Don Loans Project is the longtime collaboration between Christopher Smith and Jacob Snyder, of Bennington, Vermont. Having met during guitar/harmonica jams in South Hall at Green Mountain College, Jacob and Chris met again during a snowy BFA residency at Goddard College, in early 2003.
Since then, The Don Loans Project has produced two volumes of original material, a "best of" album, a cover of Steely Dan's Katy Lied, a tribute to Rutland, Vermont, and an extensive cover album, as well as scores of uncollected songs. Currently, Chris and Jacob are working together to compile Jacob's solo debut album; together, they continue to expand the definition of alternative folk-rock. In October 2010, The Don Loans Project was proud to perform as part of Chandler Center for the Arts' (Randolph, Vermont) Open House. Jacob operates a studio in southern Vermont.
